To give yourself the best opportunity at the table of increasing your stack you must know the best poker hands list to the right and understand without any doubt whether you have "the nuts" (the best possible hand) or whether your opponent may have it.

Poker Hand Name	Hand Detail
Royal Flush	Unbeatable Poker hand e.g. Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10 of the same suit
Straight Flush	Five-cards of a suit in sequence e.g. 5,6,7,8,9 of Hearts, or 8,9,10,Jack, Queen of Diamonds
Four of a Kind	Four cards of the same value e.g. Ace,Ace,Ace,Ace or 5,5,5,5
Full House	Three of a kind with two of a kind (a pair) e.g. 5,5,5, with 2,2 or Ace,Ace,Ace with 10,10
Flush	Any five cards belonging to the same suit but not forming a Straight e.g. 2,6,8,9,Jack of Hearts)
Straight	Five cards in sequence but not of the same suit e.g. 2 of Clubs, 3 of Hearts, 4 of Clubs, 5 of Spades, 6 of Spades
Three of a Kind	Three cards of the same value
Two Pairs	Two different pairs of cards of the same value
Pair	Two cards of the same value
High Card	The value of the highest card in the hand
